Introduction
The government’s foremost attention has been drawn towards creating a bribery and corruption free public service in Sri Lanka, ensuring the integrity of the Government Officers. Introducing strong anti-corruption measures in the public sector is compliant with the Sri Lanka’s commitments of implementation the other international anti-corruption conventions, including the United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNCAC) under Article 156 of the Constitution and it is accordant with the Anti-Corruption Act No. 9 of 2023 is aligned with the soon-to-be-released National Action Plan for the Prevention of Bribery and Corruption (2025 – 2029) and other policy objectives of the government.

As a major initiative in the process of restraining corruption in the public sector of Sri Lanka, the Internal Affairs Unit of our Ministry has been established, in accordance with the Circular of Secretary to the President No:PS/SB/Circular/2/2025 and dated 18.02.2025 for providing Government services to all citizens effectively, by creating a culture fosters the transparency, accountability and integrity throughout the Government Institutions.
Main objectives of the Internal Affairs Unit
Prevent corruption and foster a culture of integrity in the organization.
Ensure transparency and accountability in all the activities in the institution and ensure public access to information related to institutional activities and decisions.
Promote the ethical management within the Institution.
Develop a safe and accessible system to encourage reporting of misconduct, protect whistleblowers, and maintain the confidentiality.
Assist in the enforcement of laws in cooperation with law enforcement agencies and the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption.
