Responsibilities and Functions of the Internal Affairs Unit
The following specific responsibilities and functions have been assigned to the Internal Affairs Unit to ensure proactive, clear and centralized anti-corruption efforts targeting key elements of integrity of the Institute.
Review current procedures and circulars to identify systemic bottlenecks within the institution and simplify them to increase operational efficiency.
Identify fields, where vulnerable to corruption and unethical behavior by conducting Corruption Risk Assessments and take targeted preventive measures in that regard.
Develop and implement an Institutional Integrate Action Plan that includes specific anti-corruption objectives and strategies tailored to the needs of the organization.
Compliance with national anti-corruption strategies by aligning institutional policies and practices with the National Anti-Corruption Action Plan.
Conducting Compliance Assessments to evaluate the institution's compliance with National and International anti-corruption laws, including the Anti-Corruption Act No. 9 of 2023, and identifying the areas to be improved.
Ensure compliance with asset declaration requirements for all the public officials and employees and manage conflicts of commitments in accordance with the Bribery or Corruption Investigation Commission Regulations and the Anti-Corruption Act No. 9 of 2023.
Establish a safe system within the organization for receiving and managing complaints related to corruption and unethical behavior, Ensure that the relevant Officers or Units made prompt actions in respect of all such complaints and providing updates regularly to relevant stakeholders who make inquiries, ensuring transparency and accountability, forward relevant facts, findings or information under the Anti-Corruption Act to the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption for investigation as necessary.
Develop and publish a citizen charter describing the services provided by the institution.
Establish and enforce policies that promote ethical governance, including a standardized code of ethics to be adhered to by public officials.
Take necessary actions on other measures, including training and awareness the staff as motivate them to remain committed to anti-corruption principles.
Act as the institutional hub for the National Anti-Corruption Integrity Assessment, ensuring that the Institution participates in and aligns with the integrate assessment processes guided by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption and the National Anti-Corruption Framework
Maintain contacts with the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption to getting guidance and assistance continuously in the execution of the duties of the Unit.
Prepare periodic and annual reports, summarizing the activities of the Internal Affairs Unit, progress of anti-corruption initiatives, challenges and recommendations for future actions.
Develop and implement plans to improve integrity with the participation of stakeholders of the Private Sector.
